Protecting Turkish women in Germany

When Hatun Sürücü was killed by her brothers for living a lifestyle that challenged their traditional, Muslim values, Germans were shocked. Now a charity in Berlin named after Hatun and her son Can has been started to protect women from this kind of violence. In this Spiegel Online article, two Turkish women share the story of their arranged marriages to older men and subsequent flights.
Wow… I really enjoyed reading this article. what an incredible link. While I of course know that these kinds of abusive relationships take place all over the world, it is still very eye-opening to read personal, first-hand accounts from modern young women living in Germany today.
