Another form of marriage not covered by that article is the morganatic marriage. A thing of the past mostly, it was a marriage between two people of different social rank (i.e. a noble and a commoner) which prevented the titles and prerogatives of the high-ranking spouse to pass on the low-ranking spouse and their children. Vittorio Emauele II, King of Italy, contracted morganatic marriage with one of her mistress after his first wife died.

But they do have an influence. Of course people shouldn't have kids just because they get money for it. And I don't think they do, because while "child money" is comparatively generous, it doesn't completely cover the cost of rearing a child and therefore does nothing to increase the wealth of the parent. The influence government perks or no perks have is, in my opinion, the opposite. Many people decide against having kids that they otherwise want because they can't afford it. The subsidies help with that.

What do you think about shared parent time? Over here, both moms and dads have to right to take time off after a birth. I don't know any statistics on how families make use of this possibility though.

Please help those helpless commoners by asking the following Qs.

*Why the newer schools collapsed worse than the older privately owned buildings in the same town?
Kickbacks taken again?

*Why most of the govt. officials' kids studying abroad full-time with no jobs drive expensive cars to schools?
Where the money came from?

*Do those well-fed old men in Beijing really think that PRC will be a first-class strong nation soon while the common practice of taking kickbacks/bribery by govt. officials go on as usual?
